Bill Stutzman is a native of the Pacific Northwest, born and raised in Idaho, where he grew up skiing and exploring the great outdoors before making his greatest discovery, meeting his lovely artist wife, Cherise. Married since 2000, they have three children: Tyndale (18), Dulcinea (16) and Latimer (13), who are being classically educated.
Bill studied a variety of subjects at the University of Idaho before earning a degree, summa cum laude, in English Literature with minors in music and French. He then went on to earn his master’s degree in English from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Dean of Students
Shawn Roberts joined Classical Christian Academy as Associate Headmaster in 2009 having served on the Board of Trustees for 6 years. His passion is fueled by his purpose statement:“I must continually inspire future leaders to pursue excellence in order to achieve their maximum design potential.” Mr. Roberts and his wife have three children– one is a CCA student and two are graduates. Mr. Roberts earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Sciences from the University of Idaho.
Julie Hill has an Office Administration Diploma from ITT Technical Institute, an Associates Degree in Office Administration, and a Bible Certificate from Trinity Bible College in North Dakota. She started her career working for Boeing in Everett, Washington. She later moved to Idaho, and for 12 years owned and operated a preschool in Rathdrum. Julie has been married for 31 years and has 4 children.
Director of Communications and Advancement
Shannon received a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Arts from Lewis-Clark State College, where her emphasis was Marketing. She has worked in marketing in the medical and insurance fields. Shannon has a passion for helping people discover their God-given design and purpose. She is marred and has threes sons who all attend CCA.
Laura Bosse has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Fullerton, and was an accountant for several years before resigning to stay home and raise her five children. Since she and her husband Fred moved to Idaho in 2004, 3 of their sons have graduated from CCA, and 1 currently attends. She has been our business manager since the summer of 2012.
Pre-Kindergarten and K+
Bonnie Posey has over 30 years’ experience in child care, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten education. Mrs. Posey completed two years of Christian Education at Pentecostal Bible College in Livermore, California. Mrs. Posey is active in various ministries including child evangelism, as a Sunday school teacher, worship leader and children’s pastor. Mrs. Posey has been married to David for 44 years, has 3 children and 13 grandchildren.
Christina Hoefling has been an involved parent at CCA, since 2011 and worked at CCA since 2014. She has two children currently attending CCA, and one future student. She is pursuing her Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. Her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children is her driving focus, and will continues to be her motivation in the coming years.
Mindy Alden has spent more than 20 years in education – as a teacher, camp director, curriculum specialist, substitute, and a mentor to younger teachers. She has been teaching since 2000.
Mindy graduated form Northwest University in 2000 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and two minors in history and biblical studies.
Mindy and her two kids, Caleb and Catelyn attend Heart of the City Church and are very active in their church body.
Joni Thurman earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. She has taught for 17 years and eleven of those years were spent teaching first grade at CCA. Throughout her career, she has taught Title 1, first grade, and fifth grade.
Joni is married and has two children. Her son is a CCA alum and her daughter recently graduated. Joni loves teaching and working with children of all ages, but is very excited to return to first grade at CCA.
Rachel Gillette graduated from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching in Christian Education since 2009.
Mrs. Gillette loves working with children, and has a passion to see their lives, minds, and hearts transformed by the power, grace, and love of Jesus.
Mrs. Gillette is married and has a son. They recently moved to the area and she feels blessed how God opened the door to work at Classical Christian Academy.
Hannah Roberts graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She joined the CCA faculty in the fall of 2003 when she began teaching 2nd grade. Mrs. Roberts continues to provide a classroom environment where students are encouraged to apply themselves in their studies while maintaining joy in the learning process. She has a nurturing personality that ministers to her students. Mrs. Roberts is the mother of four children who are all currently enrolled in Classical Christian Academy.
3rd Grade and Robotics
Deanna Finley has an Associate’s degree in English from Spokane Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in History Education from Eastern Washington University, and a Masters in Financial Business from Keller University (and she loves long division).
Mrs. Finley has worked at CCA since 2011 as a PE teacher, office staff, 8th grade history teacher, Robotics coach, and Cross Country coach. She loves to help students find their personal talents through encouragement and support and see them develop a love of learning.
Heather Paget began teaching at Classical Christian Academy in 1997. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Eastern Washington University with a major in Reading and a minor in Mathematics.
In January 2004 Mrs. Paget stepped away from the classroom for a time to have children. Later, she came back part-time to teach Latin for several years. She is now back in the fourth grade classroom and is an experienced and effective teacher in classical education.
Stephanie Davis is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She is highly praised for her organizational skills, energetic approach to teaching, and love for students. In addition, Miss Davis possesses a strong desire to serve the Lord through her teaching. She has been teaching since 2010. One of her greatest desires is to provide a learning environment where students will develop a love of discovery and learning.
Derek Sandin graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2008 with a B.A. in Special Education, and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership in 2014. He has been a teacher for 13 years, primarily as a resource teacher in elementary and middle schools. Mr. Sandin is thrilled to be a part of CCA and help 6th graders learn and grow in their relationship with Jesus. He is married with four children. They are homeschooled, but will be coming to CCA in the near future!
Jennifer Sorensen began teaching at Classical Christian Academy in 2003. She graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a minor in English. She received her Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading and Literacy in 2014. Mrs. Sorensen taught 3rd grade for 12 years. She now teaches at the secondary level. She has four boys– 2 are currently students at CCA, and 2 are CCA graduates.
Literature and Rhetoric
Jenna Bailey joined the Classical Christian Academy family in August 2008. Mrs. Bailey’s Bachelor of Science degree in English was obtained from the University of Great Falls, Montana, with a minor in History. Mrs. Bailey has taught History, Literature, and Rhetoric during her time with CCA. She is the mother of 2 children, both of whom attend Classical Christian Academy. Mrs. Bailey’s passion for quality education and her love of history and literature endear her to the hearts of her students.
Bible and Drama
Phil Thompson joined the Classical Christian Academy family in the fall of 2010. Mr. Thompson obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and Drama from Westmont College. He continued his studies at Fuller Theological Seminary where he obtained his Master of Divinity degree in Theology.
Mr. Thompson has been a pastor for 25 years and has a passion for youth. His passion is to show the providence of God throughout history by searching God’s word and applying it to life circumstances.
Literature, Latin and Greek
Matthew Chastain graduated from Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Classics with an emphasis in History. Mr. Chastain joined Classical Christian Academy in the fall of 2010. He has experience in classical Christian education as a graduate of Mars Hill Academy. In addition to History, Mr. Chastain’s passion is in teaching Greek and Latin. He also has an extensive background in theatre. Mr. Chastain has a genuine desire and ability to integrate subjects and to enrich the education of his students.
Gene first developed a love for Latin during his elementary and high school years. Attending parochial schools, he graduated as a National Honor Society student and completed four years of Latin translation work. At the University of Missouri, Gene received a Classical Studies degree under such renowned Latin teachers as Meyer Reinhold. He also began studying Greek there, and has since been on the Greek faculty of three private colleges.
Gene and Sherry recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. Their son Elijah and wife Aimee have a 6-month-old daughter, Florence Aeterna, and live at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane. The Slavits are thankful to be in Post Falls, to serve at Classical Christian Academy, and to support the preaching of the gospel in Idaho.
Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Humanities
Laura Woelfle graduated from Metro State College of Denver in 2011 with her Bachelors in English and a license in Elementary Education. She taught 5th grade in Colorado for 5 years. Two of those years, she taught all subjects. In her third year, she was asked to teach Math and History and was blessed with success in teaching math.
Laura, her husband, and their three children recently moved to Post Falls. They are grateful and excited about all God is doing in their lives and his provision in leading them to Idaho.
Math and Science
Angela Inouye has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Zoology with a Chemistry minor from University of Idaho. She homeschooled her children for 8 years and has spent the past 6 years substitute teaching and tutoring.
Mrs. Inouye and her husband, Cory, have been married 21 years and have 2 adult children. Her other true passion is helping students discover new things about themselves and seeing their excitement when they master something they previously didn’t think possible.
Intermediate and Advanced Math
Matthew Schug graduated from University of Idaho in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He has been teaching since 2015. He loves helping students attain knowledge as much as he himself enjoys learning.
Besides mathematics, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, Monica, and his 3 children: Mia, Isabella, and Isaac, playing guitar, reading, and learning Hebrew.
Pam Manson has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with special emphasis in Sports Medicine. She is a nationally certified Athletic Trainer and is also registered in the state of Idaho. She started working at CCA in 2006 as the Administrative Assistant, then stepped away to spend time with her younger children. She is married with 3 children, 3 stepchildren, and 4 grand children. Mrs. Manson is active in her church including Sunday school and Children’s Church teacher. Her heart’s desire is “telling to the generations to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.” (Psalm 78:4).
Amelia Wall grew up in Spokane, Washington where she attended the Oaks Classical Christian Academy from kindergarten to 12th grade. After her first year of university, she went on to study abroad at Bible Schools in both England and in Austria through Torchbearers International. She is currently completing her degree in Psychology at Eastern Washington University while teaching Latin at CCA.
Amelia is blessed and excited to see all that the Lord is doing in the lives of the community at CCA. She has a passion for children and helping them foster an appreciation for quality education and understand their value in Christ.
