Welcome to summer, and congratulations on the completion of another school year at CCA! This year gave us many opportunities to seek and trust in the Lord, and now we get the blessing of looking back with thanksgiving. On the last day of school, I exhorted the students and staff with the Apostle Paul’s parting words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” So it could be said of each of us at CCA who have remembered that some things are worth fighting for, that another year around the sun and through the curriculum (from the Latin word for course or race track) has come to a close and left us with more knowledge, and that keeping the faith in Jesus Christ gives us our ultimate meaning and purpose in all we do. All this is the gift of God. And since “The end of a thing is better than its beginning” (Eccl. 7:8a), we can thank the Lord for seeing us faithfully through to the end. Now, as our summer begins, may we set our sights again on the prize of the upward call of Jesus Christ, that the same could be said for the end of our summer, that we will have fought well, run well, and believed well. I look forward to seeing everyone return in the fall with stories of God’s love and kindness, through ups and downs, trials and triumphs. May He bless your family with rich returns this summer!
